I ALWAYS want UNH to be one the teams that we get to see at the Frozen Four. I understand why Zack made the comment he made about it possibly being better for certain fans (read rabid fans) to not have their favorite team at the FF. After he gets a few more years of being a Wildcat supporter he will understand the need to have them at the FF. Certain fans have been cheering for UNH hockey for more than 30 years. Some fans were even lucky enough to have seen UNH play in the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit in the National Semi-Finals. Twice. 1977. 1979. Back when these fans were in college there was no Frozen Four as it is known today. I still reme, er I mean certain fans remember, that semi-final game in '77. Game tied at 3. Overtime. Puck deep in Wildcat end. Face-off to the left of the 'Cat goalie, Dan Magnarelli. Ref drops puck. Puck never hits the ice as the Wisconsin center iceman hits it out of mid air over Mag's shoulder. Game over. 4-3. What a letdown.
Oh wait back to the comment. I must admit I will be more relaxed with the 'Cats not playing in St. Louis. Speaking of which I must admit to something I screwed up on for our FF experience this year. I didn't get us as close to the arena as I strive to be.
I realized yesterday that there is a Hyatt right there at the rink. I just don't know how I missed that. I promise to do better next year. Last year was really great being just about 1/2 block from the rink. Somehow I bet we will muddle our way through this.
What we want the most is 3 great hockey games. I must tell you that I will be cheering for the Hockey East teams. I find it very difficult to do. Hard to cheer for the teams you have been cheering against all year when UNH was involved. Not to mention, but oh I must, one of my favorite cheers from going to UNH games--"Let's go Blue, Screw B.U." Of course there will be an exception to my Hockey East statement. I just love those Fightin' Sioux!!!!

I refuse to cheer for Maine. There is a guy in my grad program that went to Maine and he spent most of the season trash talking the Cats and now wants me to cheer for the Black Bears (that's barely even a bear) at the FF. Unlikely!
I won't cheer for BC (beat UNH in the conference championship), can't bring myself to cheer for Canada Jr. (Maine), and can't stand to support MSU (I've always liked Michigan, but not Michigan State). Go UND!
I can understand both of your comments. I agree with your refusals. But I thought it would sound more sporting to say I would cheer for those other H.E. teams. Just so you know I won't really be cheering for those individual teams--just for Hockey East. BUT I really do want UND.
let me just say that a hotel that is two blocks from the arch, and 3 from the morgan st. brewery, is probably gonna be ok...
let's go sioux!
