i got curious and tried to find out but came up with no luck....did some google searches and couldn't find anything. penn state has sells dells, but the cheapest one is 1500. So i'm really no help.

But the reason i responded was to add that your university will probably have a deal on software because normally getting microsoft office is extra. or i think i have a copy that i can send you.

oh yeah and if you think you'll need to be used it on battery power a lot the upgrade there is worth it.

and the dell that we all have is the ispiron - a lot of people here have it too and have no complaints.

i looked to...the best i could find was on a dell forum:

Dude when I ordered it, I asked the salesman if they had any e-coupon discount for students. He then asked me my full name and the university that I attend, and I told him so. The salesman then told me that he had to check the DB. About 10 seconds later, he said that since I am an FIU student, I am entitled to a $100 student discount. That was it. Though I do not think that all universities have this “hook-up” with Compaq.

You get the deal through the college. Most colleges have a link on their website. Although CMC tends to keep it a secret for whatever reason. If you can't find it through the website, you can check with the Accounts department, or even an Information/Admissions desk should be able to tell you. Our Accounts Manager is the one who secures the deal here. Hope that helps... :) :) :)
